Strategic Planning trainers attend a session of the week-long certification course sponsored by USAID/Tatweer in Hilla

Continuing on the road to GOI sustainability, USAID/Tatweer’s Strategic Leadership Unit certified 23 Strategic Planning trainers and three assistants following a week-long certification course hosted by the Provincial Council and the Governor of Babil from Feb 14-18th, 2010.

The newly certified Strategic Planning trainers come from eight provinces: Basrah, Dhi Qar, Diwaniyah, Babil, Najaf, Karbala, Maysan and Baghdad and represent the Ministries of Planning, Agriculture, Water and Public Works. The certification program focused on ensuring that each province can actively pursue capacity development in Strategic Leadership and Communications.

These Strategic Planning trainers are now equipped with 240 course hours spanning two and a half years, covering such topics as Leadership and Communications, Government Communications, Standard Operating Procedures and Strategic Planning. With this final week of Strategic Planning for Training of Trainers, the ministry employees are now certified as ToTs in Strategic Planning.

These Strategic Planning ToTs will implement technical aspects of coaching, mentoring and training to implement organizational transformation, standardization of communications procedures and the development of strategic plans for their respective ministries. The USAID/Tatweer program will continue to support and certify trainers in Strategic Planning in the Northern provinces and the KRG region in the upcoming months.
